Curlvolution and More: May Bank Holiday Weekend Events

Hi All, 

I thought we would share a run down of the Bank Holiday weekend events. You may find it difficult to choose which events to attend this Bank Holiday weekend or maybe you plan to attend them all starting with Curlvolution! I know I am struggling to decide which ones I can go to.

Saturday May 25th
Kicking of the Bank Holiday Weekend on Saturday May 25th, 2013 is Curvolution.

Sunday May 26th - Monday May 27th
Afro Hair and Beauty LIVE 2013

Europe’s largest lifestyle event for people of colour Afro Hair & Beauty LIVE returns  this year showcasing the latest season trends and hottest upcoming styles from across the pond.  Taking place at the Islington Business Design Centre on 26th & 27th May the event will house a vibrant mix of hairstyle demonstrations, fashion shows, makeovers and live entertainment. 

WORKSHOPS AND DEMONSTRATIONS 
On site renowned experts and award-winning hair and makeup artists will be offering advice on skincare, natural styles and relaxers.
Some of the best experts include:
  • Noire Essence who will be presenting the truth about black hair. This means that all myths about black hair can now be put to rest as participants will be given FREE access to hair regimen tools which will inevitably improve the growth and texture of hair. 
  • Dr Reginald Mitchell aka Dr Hair will be holding a seminar talking about everything to do with hair breakage, hair scalp analysis, children’s hair and hair styling tips you can do in the comfort of your home. 
  • Natasha Briscoe, founder of Arise and Shine will be sharing information on diseases that are responsible for certain types of hair loss. And the natural remedies that can be taken to reduce symptoms associated with it. 
  • T444Z which is dubbed as the miraculous hair food for natural or relaxed hair will be showing you how you can say good bye to your receding hair line, if your hair is thinning, if you wish to improve the thickness, length and health of your hair. This could be your time to hang up your lace front wigs and start rocking your own hair 
  • You can find out how you can have flawless looking skin while earning an extra income with Mary Kay as well as bagging yourself goodies on the day. 

STAGE SHOWS 
Fashion show is being sponsored by the British Heart Foundation (BHF). JJ Rocks Consultancy will also be hosting an impeccable fashion show and pop-up boutique, with an eclectic mix of designers from established labels such as Ade Bakare to emerging labels such as Binghi’s Boutique.

The theme will be “Empowering Women”: the confidence, strength and beauty that a woman exudes both inside and out.

The Boutique aims to encompass all that is beautiful and chic. From handmade accessories to exquisitely made clothing with influences spanning across continents.
Jodi Barima, Founder of JJ Rocks is a London/Paris fashion week designer/stylist and consultant. Her partner Dennica-Abdo Markham, Founder of US Company Fashion Meets music LA/London is also an events manager with grass roots in PR & Live Entertainment. This dynamic duo aim to raise the bar of Afro Hair and beauty Live with their conceptual show stopping surprises.
Be prepared to be wowed as ‘Fantasy Hair’ makes a comeback to the stage. The legendary hair competition will feature award-winning hairdressers who will battle against each other and have their creative prowess put to the test.  
Stakes will be raised even higher at the ‘Battle of the Barbers’ as the winner will take home a prize draw of a £1000. The competition will see barbers go head to head in a 15 minute freestyle cutting challenge. Find out who will be able to cut the sharpest, fastest and most creatively!

EXHIBITION 
Get your hands on the best products from around the world, brought to you by the people that make them. Skin serums, body butters, hair extensions and everything in between, all ready to be tried and tested by you!  
Take time out to be indulged with a customised manicure at one of the many pop-up beauty booths or take the stress off your mind with an Indian head massage or spa facial. From beautiful henna tattoos to professional eyebrow threading and eyelash extensions all at cut prices, you will leave feeling totally revived and refreshed.
Hair lovers will enjoy the interactive debate — a show’s first — and can put questions to our expert panel affiliated with major brands such as Mazuri, Mixed Chicks, Taliah Waajid and Jane Carter. 

Monday May 27th  
Strength of Nature are presenting a cocktail mixer event at the end of May. AfroBella will be in London on May 27th Bank Holiday Monday. She will be co-hosting the event with the lovely Pelumi of Care For Your Hair. The event will take place from 6 - 10. Tickets are free but you must book a ticket to attend! See the Poster Below!




Tuesday May 28
To conclude this busy Bank Holiday fiesta of events, there is still one more you can attend!
